Lots of things coming up so it's time to update...

There is a lot of info so make sure to read all the way to the end.  If you have any questions, let me know.

Permission Forms
Tomorrow we will be going to the Boys and Girls Club for a short field trip.  There are some children that have not yet returned permission forms.  Please make sure to send them in tomorrow morning.  I would hate for them to miss out.  If you have not returned permission slips for the Science museum please send those in as well.  Our trip is on May 23rd.

Chaperones
We had 12 parents that wanted to be a chaperone for our trip to the Science Museum.  We are only able to take five.  If you were chosen, your child will be giving you a letter today to notify you and remind you to send in your payment.

Walk For Life
Keep filling those bottles and return to school by May 3.  I will let you know what time we will be walking when the schedule comes out.  This Friday is Lucky Duck day.  The students can bring in cash to select a duck from a pool, for each dollar that they bring in.  They will win prizes based on which duck they picked.  We will also be wearing orange and dark blue in support of kidney and colon cancer.

PTAC Carnival
The PTAC will be hosting our annual carnival on Friday May 3rd from 6-8.  Come and enjoy the night and support the organization that supports us.  We as a grade level will be putting together a "Game Night" raffle basket that will be raffled off that night.  If you are able to, please consider donating to this basket.  We are looking for either a monetary donation or a new game to place in the basket.  These can be board games, card games, or family games.  They must be new from the store, used games will not work.  All donations (games, money) should be brought to school by Thursday May 2nd.  Thank you in advance for your help.

Rox Reading Minutes
Today starts the third week in our Rox Reading program.  Please help your child to reach their goal each week and send in their charts.  Any child who completes all 4 weeks will get 2 tickets to a Rox game this summer.

MCA's
Last week we completed our reading MCA's.  This week we are preparing for the math MCA's.  We will be taking them next week on Tuesday (30th) and Wednesday (1st).  Make sure your child is well rested and has a good breakfast to start the day off right.

Feb. 5th

Conferences
We are all set for conferences next week.  If you have not yet signed up, please login to your skyward account and do so.  Conferences will be Monday and Tuesday evening from 3:30-7:30 and Friday from 7am-11am.  These will be fairly quick since most/all of our materials were in the old room 😩

I Love to Read Month
February is I Love to Read Month.  A golden sheet was sent home recently with directions to a photo contest that we are having at PV. Take a fun picture with your child reading in a creative way.  Then send it to Mrs. E.  Winners will be chosen later this month

Book Orders/Book Fair
We have a couple great ways to get books into the hands of your student this month.  First, a book order for February was sent home yesterday.  If you wish to order you may use the code on the back and order online, or you may fill out the form and send in payment made to Scholastic.  Book orders are Due Monday Feb 11th.
We are also having the book fair in the media center along with conferences.  Our class will be previewing the book fair this Friday Feb. 8th.  If your child would like to purchase a book, they may do so on this day.  Most books are between $5-10.  Also send with a quarter or two to make sure that taxes will be covered.  The book fair will also be open during conference hours if you wish to look at the books with your child.

Valentine's Day
Today a Valentine list was sent home with all the names of our classmates.  We will be having and exchange on Thursday the 14th.  Your child may create a container/box of some sort to collect their Valentines in.  We used to make these in school, however we are short on time and space these days.

JANUARY 2

Time has gotten away from me and I have not been keeping up with this blog very well.  My hope is that I will be better at it for the second half of the year.

CONFERENCES
The sign up sheet has opened in skyward.  Please go into your family skyward account and select a time to meet in February.  The dates will be the 11th and 12th in the evening, and the 15th in the daytime.

WINTER CLOTHING
With the weather getting colder, make sure that your child is bundled up in winter gear.  We are still having some kids come without snowpants, boots, hats, etc...  Also please label your child's things so when we find a black pair of snowpants on the ground, we can locate the owner.

TESTING
We will be doing our second round of standardized reading and math tests next week.  I will share that information with you at conferences.

Our fall conferences are just around the corner (Oct. 15,16, & 17).  If you have not yet signed into your skyward account and set this up, please do so as soon as possible.  I would like to have the schedule firmed up by the middle of next week.  If you need assistance or the use of a computer, call the office at 253-0506 and they will be able to help you.

Sept. 7th

Hello and welcome parents.
Our year is off to a great start.  The purpose of this blog is to keep you informed and let you know of important things throughout the year.  I will update weekly or biweekly.  Each time that I update it, I will blast out an email to let you know.

A few things to start off the year....

BUS, SAFETY ZONE, KIDSTOP
At open house we established and end of the day routine.  I will send your child to that location each and every day unless I hear otherwise from a parent.  I cannot take a student's word for it.  They may have the days confused and then I would send them to the wrong location.  If your child is supposed to go somewhere other than the place you told me at open house, you MUST send a note or write it in your child's agenda.

CONFERENCES
Please remember to sign up for fall conferences.  They are located on your child's skyward account.  You received a handout at open house to assist you about logging in.  I would hope to have all parents signed up in the next week.  If you have any questions or troubles, please call the office at 253-0506.

AGENDAS
Your child will bring home their agenda each day.  Please look over the agenda and work with your child to make sure homework is completed.  Parent initials are needed at the bottom of each day.  If you have any notes you wish to send to me, the agenda is a good way to do that.

Please note the information to the right of this blog in the sidebar.
